OUR CERAMIC ARTISTS

Under the guidance of ceramic artist Gao Zhenyu, Being Space has brought together many young ceramic artists who are deeply passionate about ceramic creation. Team members are learning to work with clay, engaging in a dialogue with this versatile material, and using both clay and fire to convey their personalities and ideas. These ceramic artists are dedicated to infusing beauty into everyday life and are committed to achieving a harmonious balance between 'aesthetic appeal' and 'functionality' in their ceramic pieces.

‘Beauty and use’ have always been the main throughlines of Gao Zhenyu’s zisha teapots. He was born into a family of purple sand pottery artists and received strict training in the traditional norms of zisha teapot making from Gu Jingzhou. Later, he was influenced by modern Japanese ceramics practices at Musashino University, Japan. Gao has been exploring and breaking through traditional and contemporary ceramic making while questioning China’s original spirit regarding utensil making.
